The Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel is to be found in the magnificent setting of the Great Langdale Valley. It is the ‘original’ Dale Head Inn and right in the centre of the Lake District.
For 300 years the Old Hotel has offered accommodation and sustenance to weary fell walkers and climbers in the midst of some of the highest mountains in England.
Don’t expect to be easy to contact – you may have to climb 1000ft to get a mobile phone reception!
They have twelve guest-bedrooms all with Tea/Coffee making facilities, some having en-suite shower facilities, while the remaining rooms each have their very own private bathroom just down the corridor. Each and every room is very different, although they all still retain original features of antique and vintage decor.
There is a spacious and comfortable residents’ lounge with an open log fire, where you can settle in the peaceful surroundings with not a single TV in sight.
Parking is complimentary. Other amenities include a casual restaurant, 2 cosy bars (1 for residents only) and regular live music. There’s also a drying room, plus a lounge with a fireplace.
Full English breakfast and packed lunches are available. Pets are welcome.
